New Hamburg is located in the heart of South Western Ontario. Sighted along the banks of the Nith River and surrounded by gently rolling hills, it offers the tranquillity of rural Ontario combined with the proximity of urban convenience. New Hamburg is part of Waterloo Region, which it shares with the major metropolitan centres of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge which are only moments driving north and east.

The area has a rich heritage. Settled almost two centuries ago by the Mennonite settlers from Pennsylvania, Waterloo Region is now truly cosmopolitan, with virtually every nationality represented.

Area amenities

The weekly Farmers' Market in Kitchener and Waterloo, the famous, historical community of St. Jacobs, Doon Heritage Crossroads, a reconstructed pioneer site, and the world famous New Hamburg quilt sale, all celebrate the community's, rich Mennonite history.

New Hamburg and the greater community surrounding it supports every level of educational excellence. The Public and Private School Boards are augmented by a number of private educational institutions at the primary and secondary level.

Conestoga College offers a wide range of courses leading to diplomas and skilled trade certifications. The University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University are world recognized educational facilities offering on campus courses to approximately thirty thousand students annually. Within an hour of New Hamburg are the University of Western Ontario in London and McMaster University in Hamilton.

Hardly a day passes that there is not an entertainment for you. The robust excitement of Oktoberfest, the refined pleasure of time spent at the Shakespearean Festival in Stratford, an evening of music with the KW Symphony, the enjoyment of a performance at Centre in the Square or the performing arts theatres at the universities, a stroll through the National Clay and Glass Museum, the Art Gallery and the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum are all only moments away. It is truly a community of almost unlimited choices.

There are plenty of recreational opportunities. There is an extensive network of walking and biking trails. Public and private golf courses offering a wide range of challenge are close to your New Hamburg home. There are many skating rinks and swimming pools offering programs for all ages and if skiing is your sport then Chicopee offers a moderate skiing experience close by.

Medical facilities are close by and offer a wide range of services. The major hospitals in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and near-by Stratford are constantly modernizing their facilities. They offer a complete range of care including the newly opened Regional Cancer Centre and Cardiac Care Centre.
